Chosen to suffer?

SEE IT!

We will explore three of the S12 topics in relation to suffering; SIN, SUFFERING, and SAVIOUR.

#1 - SIN

Man rebelled against GOD by eating the forbidden fruit introducing sin and death into the human race. (Gen 3)
3:6 The woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
Rom 5:12 “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all people, because all sinned.”

#11 - SUFFERING

This part of the S12 method is regarding the (8) epistles/letters to Christians throughout the world who faced extreme suffering because of their belief and allegiance to Christ.
2 Cor 1:5 “For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.”

#12 - SAVIOUR

Jesus came to redeem the world, eradicate sin, and end our suffering!
Gal 1:4 “who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father.”
Heb 9:28 “so also Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”
Heb 5:8 “Although he was the Son, he learned obedience from what he suffered.”
MARK IT!

1 Peter 3:17-18 “For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God. He was put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,”

ANALYZE IT!
The book of 1 Peter was written by the Apostle Peter he was the leader of the twelve disciples and missionary to the Jews.
This was around 64AD, at the beginning of Nero’s persecution of Christians
Peter wrote epistles 1 & 2 to encourage Christians being severely persecuted around Asia Minor.
REFLECT IT!
How should we suffer?
John 16:33 “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”
Psalms 91:1 “The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.”
Romans 8:18 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.”
James 4:7 7 Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you
Acts 9:15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for this man is my chosen instrument to take my name to Gentiles, kings, and Israelites. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.
Heb 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin
Phil 4:13I don’t say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I find myself. 12 I know how to make do with little, and I know how to make do with a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content—whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. 13 I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me.
Jude 1:24 Now to him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of his glory, without blemish and with great joy, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now and forever. Amen
